Sunrise of Burlington

My grandmother lives here on the 3rd floor (memory care) and it is AMAZING! We love it, and most importantly my grandmother loves it. There are so many fun activities, every time we see her she tells us how much she enjoys all the things the does, and how someone comes to get her to do things on the other floors all the time (they cannot leave the 3rd floor unaccompanied but staff come and bring my grandmother to all the socials/games/exercise classes etc that happen on the other floors throughout the day). They also have a beautiful outdoor terrace on the 3rd floor residents can access so they always feel like they can get outside. My grandmother says it’s like living in a fancy hotel, and people only do what they want to do. If someone doesn’t feel like joining an activity they never have to. She loves that they have flexible 2 hour windows to choose when they want to eat, and get choices for all the meals (she really likes the food and we love that it’s healthy), they take her for walks over to the park that’s on the lake, the staff is just so wonderful with her. They have live music come in, dancing, dogs come to visit, students come to talk to them, she is always busy which she loves so much. They also have a foot care nurse come in, a helper puts cream on her feet for her every night, they do her laundry and help her shower if she’d like (but are very responsive to her wishes so she feels respected), they ensure she always takes her medication at the right time, etc. When she lived on her own we were very worried about her, and we weren’t sure how the move would go, but it’s been the best thing ever. We also have the Smile App so they send us pictures almost daily so we can see the activities my grandmother is doing. It’s so great to be able to see she is happy when we can’t always visit because of weather, work schedules, etc.

I cannot express enough what a wonderful facility this is. The staff are highly professional, welcoming and compassionate. They communicate frequently and genuinely do make a difference. The facilities are spotless and comfortable. The activities are well organized and the staff makes sure the residents are engaged. The Sunrise mobile app is a nice feature for families. Everything here is first class.

Here's the thing about Sunrise Burlington...every employee in that residence, from management to housekeeping to reception, actually cares about the lives of the people they are helping. There is so much humanity in this place, so much attention, intelligence, and professionalism. We moved our Mum into Sunrise after some extremely traumatic situations in a previous elder care facility. Since moving her to Sunrise Burlington she has had a renaissance in terms of her ability to connect with the world around her. Things I never thought possible happened because of the hard work and creative thinking of the team at Sunrise. It hasn't all been easy, but even on the most difficult and painful of days, these people lead with their hearts. It beautiful and humbling and I am so grateful to all of them. I know my wonderful Mum is in the best hands...Sunrise Burlington is a very special place.

Can't say enough good things about the staff. They are all very kind and caring. I really appreciate the communication from the nursing staff with updates. My mother has been there for 2 years and is much happier at Sunrise Burlington than she was at her last place.
